SetCamFoundation Funds Start-up Businesses In Cameroon’s Southwest Region

Some three start-up businesses in the Southwest region have received some financial assistance from SetCamFoundation to further their growth.

This was during a small business pitch contest that SetCamFoundation organised in Limbe recently.

SetcamFoundation having as the motto “Together we can” has as objective to thrive communities’ foster entrepreneurship with the goal of self-reliance.

The small business pitch contest according to SetCamFoundation was in loving memeory of Late Samuel Tanga Ekum, founder of the foundation.

The contest had been in stages until the finals recently that saw the brumolin Charcoal won the first prize of FCFA One Million. Other businesses like the digitalrenters and kwajika tea equally won FCFA100,000 and 50,000 respectively.

The event had Late Tanga’s children abroad connected via zoom while some were present physically.

First Deputy City Mayor of Limbe City Council, Karen Tanga is one of the daughters. She said she was more than impressed that her father’s legacy has continued and was hopeful that wherever their father is, he will be impressed.

According to the Coordinator of the event, Laye Mbunkur, who is also Managing Director of BlueMOON Outsourcing & Consulting said the contest had the objective of motivating people to engage in entrepreneurial activities. He added that the event which will be annually had businesses selected from the base even those with only business ideas.

The money received by those won will be handed partially to them as consultants will be evaluating their progress before the sum is completely disbursed. The organisers brought in the Southwest regional delegate of employment and vocational training, Thomas Orock, who encouraged and advised the youths to focus more on entrepreneurship stating that the country can be strong only when there is a strong private sector.
