Best Stars’ winning squad

By Leon C. Kange

Buea United on Wednesday, July 28 went head to head with Best Stars Academy in a must-win day two match at the Limbe Centenary Stadium.

The game was lively from the start with Buea United looking to hurt the Limbe side early on. Intent was stated just 10 minutes in, when Clifford Ngesa cut open the Best Stars defence with a thrown ball, to find Marcus Nkwelle who made light work of Mafany Alain and picked out Nkeng Tataw who thought he had given Buea United the lead but he was judged to be offside.

Best Stars then picked up the pace and in the 22nd minute played three touch football to get the lead. Michael Nanga picked up the ball in the midfield and played a long one to Corines Che on the far right, whose cross was met perfectly by Ferdinand Yefka who scored.

It didn’t take long for Best Stars to double their lead when another cross from the right side was again met by Ferdinand Yefka who made the most of it.

Five minutes into the second half, the mountain boys conceded again from an easy corner. The defence seemed to have switched off and Corines Che sneaked in to get the third. 3-0 it ended in Limbe.

After the game, coach Djoufack looked pleased and told reporters that, “We have put something in place and it is working. You know football at times, you have good days and bad days but now I believe we are living our good days”.

Best Stars will have another counterpart from Buea in matchday three when they take on Continental FA from Buea. Buea United on the other hand after losing on matchday one will have nothing but pride left to play for when they take on EEMSA.
