The African Centre for Advocacy, ACA has donated pads to Baptist Comprehensive High School, BCHS – Nkwen students. The donation was done as part of a campaign to sensitise and educate young girls on menstrual hygiene.

The exercise was in line with the 2023 Menstrual Hygiene day, which was celebrated under the theme, “Making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030”.

This year, ACA chose to visit the Baptist Comprehensive High School – Nkwen, Bamenda, in Northwest regional capital to commemorate the Menstrual Hygiene day, which was commemorated on May 26, 2023.

During the exercise, the organisation reached out to 110 girls drawn from form 5 and Upper sixth classes from both the Commercial and Grammar sections of the school.

ACA went along with a health personnel, Ngefor Angele a practicing nurse who further explained menstrual abnormalities, menstrual cycle and also demonstrated to the girls, how to properly place pad on their pants.

The young girls posed questions and got answers from health personnel especially concerning other alternatives for pads.

During the event, pads were distributed to the girls, with extras given to students who participated more during the educational exchange. Stickers with the theme of the day were also handed out to the students.
