FENASSCO League “A” Games Successfully Kick Off in Limbe

Sporting activities are successfully taking place in Cameroon’s coastal town of Limbe.

The games are what make up the FENASSCO League A Games.

The games involve only secondary schools and teachers’ training institutions.

The annual jamboree was launched by the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof. Nalova Lyonga, accompanied by her peer of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi.

This official opening was on Wednesday, April 3, at the Ngeme Stadium in the town of Friendship and Opportunities.

Declaring the event open, the MINESEC boss said the opening was very nice and successful.

However, she called on the participants to instil a spirit of discipline as they competed for the trophies.

Before the official launch on Wednesday, April 3, the two ministers had earlier, on Tuesday, April 3, unveiled a monument constructed to symbolise the hosting of the games in Limbe. That was in Government High School, Limbe.

The monument consisted of a book, a mountain, and a canoe, among others, a blend of education, Bawkeri culture, and Fako geographical features.

There, Minister Nalova received the Olympic flame and handed it to the Mayor of Limbe City Council, Paul Efome Ngale.

The flames will burn till the end of the games on April 9.

While receiving it, the City Mayor expressed gratitude to Minister Nalova for her good work in the Division. He also expressed gratitude to the Minister of Sports and Physical Education.

Paul Efome Ngale said the population was very happy to receive the visitors and urged them to enjoy and savour the various delicacies in the city.

Unveiling of FENASSCO League A games’ monument in Limbe

That Tuesday saw the finals of the Minister’s Cup, in which the teams from the Southwest Region nabbed all the trophies. The secondary education teachers from the Southwest Region defeated the staff of MINESEC in men’s football by 5-0. Meanwhile, the women of the Southwest in handball games also trashed their counterparts from the Centre Region.

The 24th edition of the FENASSCO League A Games is taking place under the theme “School Games: A Guarantee of Peace and Sustainable Development.”

There are over 2000 athletes from the 10 regions of Cameroon taking part in this year’s edition in Limbe. They are competing in 12 disciplines.
