Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL in its drive to place youths at the centre of its activities and digital transformation, is present, sponsoring and flying its flag high at the ongoing national FENASCO A finals in Limbe, Cameroon’s Southwest region.

The drive to always accompany young people led to CAMTEL’s partnership with the Ministry of Secondary Education, whose goals are to better empower and equip youths in the best way possible, especially in the digital era, marked by everyday innovations and now artificial intelligence’s speedy coming into the scene.

Speaking to the media in Limbe On April 3, 2024, during the official opening ceremony of the FENASCO A games presided at by Secondary Education’s Minister, Prof. Nalova Lyonga and Sports Minister, Prof Narcise Mouelle Kombi, Georges Essama from CAMTEL’s Marketing Department said their team is in Limbe because of CAMTEL’s commitment to supporting education. He said the commitment led them to sign a partnership with the Ministry of Secondary Education. “We believe that young people, through this activity, have a chance to showcase their best, what they do and who they are and at CAMTEL, we support the fact that we need to invest in youths and support what is better for their education”, Essama said.

He further said CAMTEL is out to also sensitise the public about its various offers of internet packages and services. He mentioned Blue, which has a variety of internet packages that people can subscribe to and use to access the internet in their mobile devices, homes and office spaces. He said the packages and the sizes vary depending on the users’ needs, be they individuals, small enterprises or large companies.

Reacting to Minister Nalova’s call for students to embrace, explore and make the best use of artificial intelligence which she considers the next big thing, which young Cameroonians must catch up to, Essama said it falls in line with CAMTEL’s mission as an internet service provider for Cameroonians, and as the number one supporter of tech start-ups. “We are working with start-ups, we are also working with young organisations to help them address the needs they have, in terms of connectivity, solutions on how to face new challenges like cyber security, and how to approach artificial intelligence”, Essama said.

He furthered that CAMTEL supports such ecosystems by not only powering them with connectivity but also guiding them through the various challenges that they face in the course of their going about with activities that are putting and will continue to put Cameroon in the limelight as far as tech is concerned.
