The chairperson made the statement in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa on July 27.

The AU chairperson equally encouraged all the stakeholders to engage in good dialogue, compromise, and work to reach a political solution. He also beseeched the actors to put the national interest of the country above all other considerations.

“The chairperson reaffirms the African union’s support for any initiative aimed at peace, stability and national reconciliation in Cameroon and reiterates the commission’s readiness to contribute to this initiative” the press release reads.

This is not the first time AU is calling for peace and dialogue since the Anglophone crisis started in 2016.
