Six people have been confirmed dead and 20 others injured in a road accident that occurred in Moliwe along the Limbe highway, in Fako, a Division in Cameroon’s Southwest region.
The accident occurred at about 7:30 am on Friday. The victims included those who were on board the bus, and some locals who were on their way to their farms.
Sources say it was a head-on between a truck transporting sand and a 19-seater transport bus transporting mainly Government Technical High School, Ombe Students.
Of the six casualties, 3 are students of Government Technical High School Ombe. The driver of the bus also perished in the accident but was taken immediately for burial, following Islamic religious rules.
The victims were rushed to the Mutengene Baptist Hospital and Limbe Regional Hospital Annex.
According to the school officials, the students were going to be officially dismissed for the second term holidays.
At the incident scene, shoes and uniforms of students could be seen on the ground.
The bus was completely wrecked while the truck was partly damaged and is undergoing repair.
At Mutengene, where one casualty was, parents were inconsolable.
