Buea United alias the mountain boys, who unveiled six of their latest signings in their first league game against Catholic University Sports Academy, CUSA, narrowly escaped defeat, with one man down.
Enang and his foot soldiers managed to take a point after 90 minutes.
To meet up with objectives of the club for this season as highlighted by the management, a series of new players were signed while respecting the team’s philosophy of also recruiting young talent to attain the club’s ambitions for the season.
To add to the old lads of the club, the management of Buea United has employed the services of Vincent Akoasang Sakwe, Emerant Ndive, Laintex Epoge Ngolle all from Dynamic FC, Oscar Ikome from Little Foot Fc, Zebedee Mukete from Soccer 4 Hope Cameroon, and Oscar Bwese alias Porato from Maumu Youths FC.
For Saturday’s game against Catholic University Sports Academy (CUSA), BU Head coach Enang N. Severin put his trust in a 16man squad;
Two Goalkeepers: Oscar Bwese, Ricardo Brown
Five Defenders: Dirane Foube, Fadil Aba, Jimmy Njokam, Teddy Njie, Briand Bourzina
Six Midfielders: Frank Lyonga, Oscar Ikome, Emerant Ndive, Laintex Epoge Ngolle, Zebedee Mukete, Clifford Awah
Two attackers: Bosten Mofa, Vincent Akoasang Sakwe.
Worthy to note was the fact that the team was without two old lads of the club due to personal reasons, shot stopper Tambe and Central defender Njoku according to coach Enang.
The game time was 1pm prompt but was delayed due to license issues of players. When the blast of the central referee’s whistle was given for kick-off, Captain Isaac and his team mates of Catholic University began mounting pressure on the Mountain Boys, having and making more touches of the ball. Both sides made chances but failed to concretize them. At half time the score remained 0-0 but the boys in blue were leading in yellow cards as Oscar Ikome and Teddy had bad records with the man in black.
Getting to the second half, it was tight as both teams doubled their efforts in getting victory but wasted their chances. Ten minutes from stoppage time, Buea United was reduced to ten, as Oscar was found wanting again after committing a second bookable offence. At full time it was a draw game as none of the teams could make the difference.
In an interview with Coach Brandon Enobi of Catholic University, he said “we faced difficulties training; we have not had a complete week to train; that is because of the insecurity in the town, especially Molyko where we have our training sessions. From the bench I could see my boys doing their best and I want to appreciate them.”
Speaking to the Captain of the mountain Boys, he thanked God for making it possible for them to have played the way they did “I saw a compact team in all aspects and we fought till the end, I hope and pray we continue with this new found spirit and I remain very positive that we will bounce back and get victory in our next matches.” Dirane Foube averred.
Buea United’s next encounter will be against mount Cameroon FC alias the “Lava Boys” according to the fixtures.
