The trial of the Vice President of the women’s wing of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement Party has been adjourned to April 25.
The hearing which Started yesterday, April 18, 2019, was postponed by the Nfoudi High Court in Yaoundé.
Barrister Michele Ndoki is said to have condemned her arrest and detention which she justified as a violation of human rights in Cameroon.
According to her Defence Counsel, Barrister Tamfu Richard, the detention of her client by the Cameroon Government is illegal. “The judge handling the case did not produce any warrant of arrest against Michele Ndoki,” he said. “We filed for the habeas corpus motion, which demands for her immediate release because there is no case against her” the Legal mind furthered.
The prominent member of the CRM party, Michele Ndoki, was arrested on February 26 at Idenau, in Fako Division, SW Region of Cameroon.
Meanwhile, the case pitting Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration against the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, CRM, party has been thrown out of court in Yaoundé. The CRM party dragged the MINAT boss to court, for having banned the peaceful protest march planned by the party. The party’s justification is that, Minister Paul Atanga Nji, is abusing the power of his office.
The rally which has been postponed several times was aimed at demanding the release of the CRM President, Prof. Maurice Kamto and other militants of the party detained in Yaoundé.
Minister Atanga Nji, at one time, even threatened to ban the CRM Party entirely if it continues with the protest which he describes as disturbance to public peace.
Equally, the European Union, EU, recently, in a conference, demanded the immediate release of Prof. Maurice Kamto who was arrested in January.
