BUEA, Cameroon- The Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, has appointed Minister Paul Tasong and Donatus Njong as the National Coordinator and Deputy National Coordinator respectively of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the Northwest and Southwest Regions, PPRD-NW/SW.

According to the Prime Minister, the PPRD-NW/SW aims at implementing projects in the Northwest and Southwest with prime focus on the rehabilitation and development of basic infrastructures, economic revitalisation and the promotion of social cohesion.

To achieve these objectives, the Prime Minister has appointed and charged Minister Paul Tasong and former Mayor of Kumbo Council, Donatus Njong, with the responsibility of organising and monitoring the implementation of the reconstruction and development activities.

According to the Prime Minister, the coordinators are charged with the responsibility of elaborating the action plan, ensuring the transfer of resources to the implementing partners, reporting regularly to the Chairperson of the Steering Committee on the activities carried out in the field, as well as examining and validating budget, financial statements, activity, and management reports produced by the implementing partners of PPRD-NW/SW.

The appointment of these officials to champion the reconstruction process in the Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon is coming five months after the holding of the Major National Dialogue that was meant to put an end to the economic, cultural and socio-political grievances of those in the Northwest and Southwest Regions.

It is equally coming at a time when most Cameroonians will prefer the Government to use its available resources to fight the spread of the COVID-19 into other regions, as well as to take care of confirmed and quarantined cases.
