SWRL: UB FC Ends CINYODEV FA’s Winning Streak

by Atlantic Chronicles

The foot soldiers of Coach Nicolas Asongu mesmerised football fans, by netting two goals against the Academicians of Coach Benard Ntui.

UB FC’s win ended CINYODEV FA’s 100 percent success record this season in the Southwest Regional Championship.

Standing tall in Pool B was a CINYODEV side that has kept a clean record with 9points after three games, while the University of Buea Football Club had just three points, and occupying the third position.

The first half of the march saw both sides create chances to put their opponents of the day in discomfort but they remained resilient. Close to break time, UB FC was handed a golden opportunity to have an edge in the game after a tussle between a defender for the boys in green and an attacker for the boys in white and black. Terry Tambe skipper for the University of Buea stepped forward and comfortably sent Goalkeeper Michael Molua the opposite direction to get the cutting raiser for UB FC. This score took both sides for the break.

The disappointed Coach of CINYODEV FA, speaking to his commandos during the break urged them to step up their game and grab an equalizer. The gaffer for UB FC encouraged his foot soldiers to keep working hard and possibly slot in a second goal to ease their job for the day.

The second half saw combat in midfield for possession with both sides playing with three at this compartment between Elias Tonga, Rahim Molive and Ebot Bisong for CINYODEV. UB FC played with Soh Kegne, Roy Campbell and Eugene Mebeng. This trio kept CINYODEV busy physically and technically.

Elias Tonga was shown the marching order after an offence. The move brought Valery Ndazeh’s boys to 10. With this deficit, substitute Brian Munya converted the second from the edge of the box for UB FC giving his side a 2-0 lead.

Speaking to Atlantic Chronicles after the game, David Esung remarked that, “It wasn’t an easy game and we give thanks to God. From 5-1 in the first leg to 2-0, in the second leg, it is a wonderful score, so in all, hard work pays”.

According to Brandon Ntui, Skipper for CINYODEV FA, “We had so much confidence sleeping on our past glories in the first leg and we received our shock. But we will keep on working on our loopholes so as to qualify for the mini interpools.

The second half of the competition is on with the unofficial classification in Pool B after match Day 4. CINYODEV FA tops with 9pts, Catholic University Sports Academy on the second position with 7pts after a draw with Mount Cameroon FC, while UB remains on third with 6pts and Mount Cameroon alias the Lava Boys are bottom with 1pt.
