Miss Skills Contestant Urges Student Journalists To Embrace Entrepreneurship, Avoid Hate Speech

A contestant of Miss Skills Festival, Sendy Forlemu has drilled student journalists to avoid hate and promote balanced and objectivity in the practice of their profession.

This was done during the 28th edition of the Association of Student Journalists in the University of Buea, ASJUB, Open Day celebrated under the theme: “Journalism and Mass Communication, a Springboard for Entrepreneurship.”

She joined her voice to the voices of guest speakers like; Kum Leonard of My Media Prime, Charly Ndi Chia, the founder of the Rambler Newspaper and Benyella Njeko, a tech guru, to urge student journalists to monetise the media for the practice of their profession in order to earn in living.

Elaborating on how to avoid hate speech in their reports, the pageant said the students should follow their professional ethics and deontology and that, there is a fine of imprisonment and a huge monetary fine that if journalists spread hate, they will pay.
