The Governor of the Northwest Region, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, has lifted the restriction placed on movement of persons and property in the region almost a year ago.

The decision to authorise night movements is contained in a communique signed by Governor Lele Lafrique on Friday June 14.

According to the Governor, the pronouncement takes effect from the day of signature. The Governor in his statement said, “that the security restriction placed on the movement of persons and property within the Northwest region are from the date signature of the present order lifted”. The communiqué announced in parts.

“Administrative authorities and head of security and defence forces shall be charged with the implementation of the present order which shall be registered and communicated wherever necessary”. He said.

Governor Lele, on November 24 2018 modified an imposed curfew, restricting movement of persons and goods from 9pm to 6am.

That administrative ban was due to the insecurity in the region as a result of the continuous Anglophone crisis which started in 2016.

Inhabitants in the region have welcomed the lifting of the ban, but lament on the deteriorating security concerns which have left so many recorded deaths.
