A sweet, bitter beginning for PWD Kumba (Meme Works), as their football ambitions have been squashed, after they suffered a devastating defeat in the hands of Stade FC Bertoua in the on-going National Interpools

With PWD Kumba’s defeat, the Southwest Region will have to wait for another season to begin strategizing on how to have a representative in the National League 2 during the 2019/2020 football season.

In the past five years, Best Stars of Limbe and Victoria United FC alias OPOPO from Fako Division have struggled to graduate from the regional league into the national League two. This 2018/2019 football season, Southwest brought forth a new champion from Meme Division, Public Works Department, Kumba (Meme Works) who braved the odds.

In the second game of the day, the boys of President Maxwell Bissong and Carlos Ngeh were optimistic as they promised to bring League two football to the Southwest Region. Unfortunately, that dream never saw the light of the day as they were over-powered by the host region’s flag bearers in a 10goal thriller. Stade FC of Bertoua won, putting six goals past PWD Kumba shot-stopper, while the Meme Boys could only register four goals for themselves.

The first encounter of the day saw the Garoua outfit, Etoile Filante, dominate their counterparts of the Centre Region Mercure of Bafia by 2-1.
