Cameroon’s leader in the foods and beverages sector, Nestlé Cameroun, on August 3, donated a consignment of COVID-19 preventive kits to Douala IV Municipality, worth over FCFA 10 million, to aid the local community in the fight against COVID-19.

Nestlé Cameroun’s donation was received by the Divisional Officer, DO, for Douala IV, Daouda Issa. The DO received the consignment alongside the Mayor of Douala IV, Dr. Edouard Herve Moby Mpah.

The donation by Nestlé Cameroun consisted: a cheque worth FCFA 3 million, 3 atomizers, 100 dispensers of hydro-alcoholic solution, 600 litres of hydro-alcoholic solution, 5,000 surgical masks, food products.

In a press statement following the donation, Nestlé stated that it is committed to helping preserve the health and well-being of families and communities and has a critical role to play during the COVID-19 crisis.

“Nestlé is fully aware of its responsibility to provide good nutrition, especially for the most vulnerable people in society,” the press release partly stated.

Commenting on the goodwill gesture, Katia Touré, Plant Director, and representative of the Administrator General of Nestlé Cameroon, declared: “My dearest wish is that this donation can allow the local COVID-19 committee to redouble its efforts to continue to actively sensitise our populations to respect barrier measures.”

Recently, Nestlé Cameroun carried out a similar exercise, donating food products to about 50 families living around the Bonabéri factory. The donation was to help provide for the families, in order to enable them feed healthily in these difficult times of COVID-19.

Katia Touré also reaffirmed Nestlé Cameroun’s commitment to ensuring the availability and constant supply of affordable and accessible food products to help families continue to eat healthy diets during these difficult times.

Nestlé Cameroun also reechoed the fact that it has taken all the necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of its employees, its distributors and all the players in its distribution chain, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is in line with the requirement of compliance with the barrier measures prescribed by Government, to which Nestlé Cameroun attaches paramount importance,” the release stated.

In its statement, Nestlé Cameroun reaffirmed that in its quest to improve the quality of life and contribute to a healthier future, it will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Public Health, local authorities and all other stakeholders, for health and well-being of all.
