by Atlantic Chronicles

The World Football governing body, FIFA, has made public the dates and duration of the next World Football jamboree to be hosted by Qatar.

As a shocker to fans and lovers of the wonderful game of football, November 21 is the starting date of the competition, which will run through to December 18, 2022. The 2022 world football tournament will go on record, as the shortest World Cup in 40years. It will take place in winter and not the usual summer period.

This has sparked lots of controversies as it will force players of top competitions like the English Premier League, French Ligue 1, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A, among many other leagues in Europe, Africa, Asia, and America to leave their clubs during the busiest periods in calendars.

The 32 team tournament will run just for 28 days, giving teams that will qualify for the group stages less time to prepare, which could affect the quality of the competition.

With this new schedule, Championships across the world will have to adjust their calendars and fixtures in order to match-up with the World tournament. Some championships like the Premier League plans to kick-off a week early and a week late, which fails to match with the World Championship.

Critics have opined that the schedule is a disruptive and unintelligent move, which will result in exhausting players by the end of the club season.
