One of Miss Cameroon competition Aspirant Atem Noella is bracing up to launch a nationwide sensitisation campaign in schools as part of efforts to curb sickle cell anaemia in the society.
The campaign according to the beauty queen will also focus on how to break the myths and stigmas about sickle cell disease,

In a press outing on her social media handles recently Miss Atem Noella disclosed that in many communities, individuals living with sickle cell disease often experience stigma and implicit bias especially in schools where most pupils, students and even staff ignorantly or voluntarily mocked or side-line them from their activities.
Quizzed on what motivated her, the 24 year old Beauty queen who many describe as the true definition of beauty revealed that she comes from a family where many people suffer from the disease and have also died due to the disease so she thought it was time to throw more efforts on sensitisation to help curb this disease.
“My mother is also victim and she is above 40 years old. She is married and has three healthy kids with none of them a carrier of the disease, she has a job and accepts the realities of the disease. She has also been sensitising people on the disease and the importance of always having themselves tested before marriage and to learn how to leave with the disease. Her story alone is enough to inspire or educate the people on how to live healthily with the disease and shun myths of witchcraft.” She said.
“I wish to educate people on the sickle cell disease, so as to take away the myths and reduce stigmatisation for those living with sickle cell. Motivate and give hope to the parents and relatives of those suffering with sickle cell. People living with sickle cell need much love and care for them to live more years give support and show love to those living with health conditions as a whole. No health issue is ever too small, if it can cause discomfort or one’s life” she added.
Miss Atem Noella, Age 24 hails from the Southwest region precisely from Lebialem.
She holds a degree in educational psychology.
She is currently project manager at Hadassah Foundation (psycho-social/peer support) and CEO of Atemmi’s closet.
Miss Atem has held titles such as: Miss Tourism, Southwest 2019; Miss glow monat 2020; Miss beach Cameroon 2021; Miss Black international ambassador Cameroon and currently 1st runner up miss southwest 2021, and finalist for miss Cameroon 2021/2021.
