Victoria United FC Humbles Wasteful Prisons FC

Victoria United FC Limbe aka OPOPO sailed passed Prisons FC Buea on a 2-0 score in one of the first phase preliminary matches at the Tiko town green Stadium.

It was a wounded OPOPO side under Coach Mbock Maput wanting to gain the support of their fans once again after a disappointing 1-1 draw against NQSA in day one of the Southwest Regional Championship 2020. The first sediment of the encounter saw Captain at his team mates throw all cylinders at the Home Boys knocking for the opener. Unfortunately, Goalkeeper, Macviban Yebi kept his side in the game. The boys of Coach Enang created clear scoring opportunities but were wasteful. With all the missed chances, both sides went on the break on a virgin tie, 0-0.

In the second sediment of the game, Augustine Takie was so quick for of Prisons defenders, as he opened scores for the Limbe side. An Ebongue led attack line of Prisons FC was neutralised by Captain Joseph Barreng and Goalkeeper Idris. At the 65th minute, full defence man, Nchong Lih fouled Takie, handing a penalty to OPOPO and it was converted with ease, making it Victoria United 2- Prisons FC 0.

After this first phase, a total of 14 clubs made it to the second round.

Meme Zone games that took place in Kumba, saw three out of six clubs qualify; namely NEMFA, Future Dreams, and Nkamanyi FI.

Meanwhile, in Fako Zone, five of those who succeeded are from Buea; Mount Cameroon FC, Buea United FC, CINYODEV FA, CUSA five from Limbe; NQSA, FUSSA, Options Sport SA, Victoria United FC, ISOHSA with Tiko United representing Tiko. H.O Academy, (based in Douala but is affiliated to the Southwest Regional Championship.)
