SWRL Distributes Covid-19 Relief Packages To Clubs

Amateur players of the Southwest Regional League answered present at the FECAFOOT Bureau in Buea to receive their Covid-19 relief package.

From the Elite 1, 2 and female top tier football in the country, Cameroon’s FA now turned her eyes to the Amateur clubs (Grassroots football) to assist actors of the beautiful game during this period of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 26 clubs affiliated to the SWRL of FECAFOOT were all invited to be part of this ceremony presided over by the President of the Bureau, Dr Ndive Molungu Thomas in the presence of his Secretary-General Esowe Sylvester Mwambo and the Administrative Agent Bissong Thomas Makia.

“We are happy you responded to this call from the Bureau, we have been on lockdown just like the league due to the Corona Virus pandemic which has affected every sector and I think we really need to respect the rules given to us by our Government and the World Health Organization (WHO). With this medium I want to salute all our Health Workers for what they have been doing to keep us safe. To you players, I want to say that your health is very important so that you can come in the next season to bring us elite football or champagne football just as we were having before the abrupt break, so I urge you to keep training.” Dr Ndive Molungu Thomas added.

Speaking to the media, Catholic University Sports Academy’s striker, Joel Njuma said it “is a laudable gesture and I want to say thanks to FECAFOOT and our team for the opportunity. Yes it does not suit the expectation of many but we see this as another avenue to come together and share.” He added.

Prisons FC defender, Dang Perez was quick to thank God for keeping him right up till this moment and the Federation for thinking of players at this juncture. “I must say this items aren’t really plentiful but all we need to do is collect it and appreciate those who extended a hand of assistance.”

Worthy of note is the fact that just 20 players were expected to participate in this ceremony, making it a total of 520, but not all the teams, 26 clubs affiliated to the SWRL answered present, but this news agency took note of University of Buea FC, Catholic University Sports Academy, Little Foot FC, Prisons FC, Continental FA, Dynamic FC, Victoria United FC Cinyodev FA.
