Soccer 4 Hope Cameroon Tenders To Players’ Spiritual Needs

by Atlantic Chronicles

In preparation for a great season in the life of sportsmen and women, Soccer 4 Hope Cameroon organised a retreat for actors in various sporting disciplines to communicate with their creator, God almighty.

The retreat was informed by the belief that a house that is built on a faulty foundation or sinking sand will never stand the test of time. That is why the coordinator of the Sports Ministry, Severin N. Enang deemed it necessary for players to always come before God Almighty at the beginning of every season to listen to the word of God and be spiritually equipped.

The January retreat saw players of Dynamic FC, Prisons FC, Buea United and ANADA FA converge on Glory Stairway Church Buea, under the theme “The Next Level” with many topics like praying effectively as an athlete, Godly, Body, and Sex and facing sporting disappointment which were dissected by Pastor Willy and S.N Enang, men who master the art of players and the word of God.

The event began with a video session as the participants watched videos of former players and athletes who are role models and icons; like former Vice-Captain of the Indomitable Lions Enoh Eyong Takang, Brazilians Ricardo Kaka, Thiago Silva, Alex and a host of others from different denominations.

The devotion was brought to the participants by Travis Akeh President of ANADA FA, dwelling on the topic ‘Study to be made approved with scripture 2nd Timothy 2:15 and 3:16’.

Speaking to Atlantic Chronicles after the event, Perez Dang said; “I felt blessed with this retreat because I believe that I have handled my season spiritually. Now I am just waiting for God to manifest in my life. I want to seize this opportunity to thank Coach Enang for creating such a platform for sportsmen and women and also pray that God should continue to give him wisdom.

The retreat ended with prayer sessions led by Pastor Willy dwelling on 1Corinthians 6:8-10 expatiating that “If you don’t fear God you will not have wisdom.”

In an interview with Coach Enang, he said; “I am satisfied with the sports retreat that took place last Saturday, January 11, 2020, the feedback from the participants proved to us that the sports ministry is moving to another level. We are hoping to continue with this and do a proper follow up of all this year’s participants. To my collaborators, I say a big thank you and pray the Almighty God continues to guide you.”

This 2020 next level retreat by Soccer 4 Hope Cameroon is the third edition and has come at a time when soccer players and athletes believe in orthodox ways that can take them to a professional level as icons and superstars.
