3BC Lifts Wilson Dacosta Basketball Tournament Trophy

Buea Basketball Club, 3BC has emerged champions of the Wilson Dacosta Basketball Tournament.

The tournament was organised to keep the Buea population physically active in this period of the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Speaking during the final of the tournament in Buea, the Regional President of Southwest FECABASKET, Emile Mbella, explained that there is a need for people to stay active, while respecting preventive measures for COVID-19.

According to him, more harm could be done to the body, in the absence of exercise.

“We have noticed that so many people are stressed. Some are dying because they have stayed in the house for too long, without doing physical activity”. 

Going by him, the aforementioned reasons made to bring together some basketball players to play and sensitise the community on the need for continues physical exercise, as an essential factor for good health. 

Speaking during the tournament, Wilson Dacosta, the sponsor of the sporting jamboree that brought together basketball players fromBuea, Limbe and Douala, called on all, to continue adhering to Government and WHO prescribed measures to stem the spread of COVID-19 in the communities.

 “Let us continue to adhere to all the advice the scientists have given us. Let us use masks, let us wash our hands let us maintain the social distance, because this is a disease that we don’t really know,” he stated.

The President of the Host Team, Buea Basketball Club, said the main objective of the tournament, which was to bring together youths from different cultural backgrounds to unite and play basketball, was met.
