Nestlé Food Donation Assuages COVID-19 Burden On Vulnerable Families

Nestlé donates 500 cartons of food products to needy in the Littoral region.

DOUALA, Cameroon– Nestlé Cameroun has donated food products to help vulnerable families in the fight against COVID-19 in Cameroon.

The donation, by the Cameroon branch of the world’s leading Multinational Corporation in the food and drinks sector, is expected to benefit more than 2,000 vulnerable people in the Littoral Region.

The recent donation by Nestlé Cameroun constitutes the second part of the donation, which was received on Friday, May 15, by the Littoral Regional Delegate of Social Affairs, Hélène Bissombi.

During the donation, Nestlé officials stated that the company is committed to helping maintain the health and well-being of families and communities, as part of its vital support and role in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a press statement, Nestlé stated that it “is fully aware of its responsibility to provide good food in particular to the most vulnerable in society, including orphans, the disabled and the blind”.

Nestlé Cameroon’s Managing Director, Robert Helou, said: “I want once again on behalf of all Nestlé Cameroun employees, offer our support to all Cameroonians. During these difficult times, it is our duty to contribute to the healthy nutrition of vulnerable families in Cameroon”.

He reiterated Nestlé Cameroon’s commitment to ensuring that affordable food products by Nestlé are available and accessible, to help families continue to eat healthily during the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement, Nestlé also noted that it has taken all necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of its employees, distributors, and all players in its distribution chain as they carry out their duties of ensuring that its products are available and accessible to all Cameroonians.

“This is in line with the requirement to respect the barrier measures prescribed by the Government, to which Nestlé Cameroon attaches paramount importance to. True to its raison d’être, which is to improve the quality of life and contribute to a healthier future, Nestlé will continue to work in close collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and all other stakeholders, for the health and well-being of all.”

It should be recalled that after donating 10 tonnes of food products to the Ministry of Public Health, Nestlé proceeded to offer 10 other tonnes of food products to hospitals across Cameroon.
