by Atlantic Chronicles

Stade FC of Bertoua and Kohi of Maroua shared the spoils 1-1, while Northwest outfit Foncha Street FC of Bamenda triumphed over Etoile Filante of Garoua 3-1, to round up day one fixtures.

The third game of the National interpools saw teams of Pool B take centre stage. Host regions representative Stade FC clashed with Kohi of Maroua.

The first half was animated by the Bertoua boys encouraged by their mass crowd that came out to support their club. At the 17th minute, Alex Benjamin Louke opened scores and protected their lead till the end of the first half.

In the second half, it took just 14 minutes for the boys from Maroua to concretize on the opportunities they had, to level scores, courtesy Ousmanou Hamadou.

All attempts to increase the tally by both sides proved futile as the goalkeepers and defence men remained focused.

PWD Kumba Southwest region’s representative was exempted from this match due to the fact that their group has just three clubs.

The second encounter of the day and the last for day one fixtures saw Northwest representatives Foncha Street FC of Bamenda log horns with Etoile Filante of Garoua.

The foot soldiers of coach Frankline Anuwema were so determined that at minute seven of the encounter, the Bamenda boys were already in front through a penalty transformed by striker Brilant Tanwie. Four minutes to the end of the first sediment, Brilant was on the score sheet once again for Foncha Street FC making it 2-0.

In the second half, the Garoua Boys opened scores to reduce tally but that was short-lived as Foncha Street FC benefited from a penalty which gave Brilant Awahmukala Tanwie a chance to complete his hat trick.

The remaining minutes of the game created no fireworks as no goals were registered. Unfortunately for coach Anuwema his side ended the game with ten men on the pitch as Jean Claude Liamo was given the marching order.

This win puts Foncha Street FC of Bamenda top of Pool C with three points. It should also be noted that they will not be in action for day two but will resurface on Saturday to grind arches with Mercure SA of Bafia, representatives of the Centre region who were exempted during day one fixture given that their pool is made up of three clubs just like Pool B.
