Ousted Egyptian President, Morsi Dies

The first ever democratically elected President of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi has died.

According to the state television, Mohamed Morsi fainted during a court session and was later declared dead on Monday June 17.

Morsi replaced Hosni Mubarak and was later elected President of Egypt in 2012, but was ousted by the military in 2013 after one year in office.

The Ex-president, following the uprising in Egypt was deposed in a military coup by Egypt’s present President, Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

While the cause of Morsi’s death is still awaited, prosecutors say there were no signs of injuries on him, when he died.

BBC reports that activists and Morsi’s family had long complained about his prison conditions, saying Morsi was not receiving treatment for serious health problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes, and was constantly being held under solitary confinement.

Human Rights Watch said Morsi was not given access to medical treatment and Lawyers.
