National Interpool: Foncha Street FC Grabs Ticket To Represent Northwest Region

Foncha Street FC, on Sunday, August 4, 2019, overpowered city rivals, Rainbow FC, 2-0 in the final of the Northwest Regional Championship, making it two finals on two against Rainbow this season.

The Five-year-old Foncha Street FC, had its revenge on a Rainbow FC side that stopped them from testing National Interpool in the last season, as they were edged 2-0. They equally had a Cup of Cameroon clash to see who will represent the Northwest this session, but Coach Remy Ngwa and his foot soldiers were humbled 1-0.

Foncha Street’s starting XI;

Frankline Shalanyuy at the goal-post, Terence Chianian, Ivan Abong, Germain Ngangni, Moses Azinwi at the defensive compartment, David Koffi Kange, Sylvester Shey, Briliant Tanwie at the midfield, with Alain Menghze, Bright Vofack, Jean Claude Laimo as strike force.

Coach Remy Ngwa opted for a 4-3-3 placing his faith on Derrick Mbah as his shot-stopper, his defence was going to be commanded by Samuel Nji, Clinton Neba, Nelson, Lesley Manga Akum, at the midfield Moses Yuh, Adissa and MacGregor Veraloh and at the attack Joel Doh,  Samuel Awallu and Moudie Aballo.

The first sediment of this encounter saw the foot soldiers of Coach Frankline .A. dominate their counterparts as they got two shots by-pass Goalkeeper Derrick Mbah courtesy of Jean Claude Laimo in the10th minute and Briliant Tanwie in the 37th minute. 

In the second half, we saw a much composed Rainbow side who tried to reduce the deficit but it was too late as Foncha Street FC held on to their 2-0 lead. 

Speaking after the encounter, Captain Akum Lesley of Rainbow FC said, “I feel really sad because we prepared well, we fought very hard, but its God plan. Congrats to Foncha Street FC”.

“We take the games one after another; we are now on a level which is also not going to be easy because these are various champions from other regions which means they are the best. But my teammates and I remain optimistic and ready for the challenge with God being our helper”, David Koffi midfielder for Foncha Street FC told Atlantic Chronicles after the finals.
