Day one matches of the Southwest regional Championship have come and gone with a total of 25 goals scored, four draws, two home victories and three away victories.
The first ball of the League was kicked by Njalla Quan Sports Academy (NQSA) and Ajax FC Likomba, in second game Future Soccer Stars (FUSSA) hosted Eso Eteki Memorial Sports Academy (EEMSA) and Best Stars Academy and the city brothers Limbe Football Association at the Limbe Community Field, under the watchful eyes of the Southwest Regional President of FECAFOOT, Thomas Ndive, Vice Presidents, Secretary General, fans and football lovers in the region.
In the first encounter, NQSA welcomed Ajax FC of Likomba. Coach Edwin Teteh and his foot soldiers defeated the boys from Likomba 2-0. Speaking to Atlantic Chronicles after the game, Coach Teteh expressed his mind, saying “My teenagers were prepared morally and mentally, dealing with this set of children is difficult so the technical staff is doing its best to handle them.”
In the second game, FUSSA and EEMSA exchanged football lessons. The Tiko boys showed their domineering force scoring twice, enabling them cling a first victory of the season.
The third game was termed the main event of the day, a local derby between two Limbe based clubs Best Stars and LIFCA. Both sides ended 0-0. After the game Best Star’s coach, Saturin Djofack, explained why his lads faced difficulties during the game “for more than five months we have been training on grass and my children have already adapted to such facilities. In all we had two opponents today, the pitch and LIFCA.” He added
