The Limbe Festival of Art and Culture, FESTAC2019 has been schedule to take place from the 6th to the 13th of April. This was made known to public by the Government Delegate to the Limbe City Council, Andrew Motanga Monjimba, who doubles as Chairman of FESTAC Steering Committee.
In a press briefing, Wednesday 20 at City Council Hall, in Bota Limbe, Mr. Motanga said some innovations have been introduced. One of those is the raffle draw or TOMBOLA.
According to the Government Delegate, the winner of TOMBOLA will go home with a brand new Toyota Yaris car worth 15 million. A set of other prices like bikes, refrigerators and gas cookers will also be won.
The 6th edition of FESTAC will be coming at a time when the Southwest region is going through difficult times as a result of the Anglophone crisis.
The Government Delegate maintains that the people of Limbe are the ones to decide whether the event will hold or not. To him, they are the one guarantors of their security and that the state security will be coming as a compliment.
The briefing was attended by different stakeholders in the Limbe municipality as well as the Member of Parliament for FAKo East Hon. Etombe Gladys.
Hon Gladys called for massive participation of Limbe inhabitants. She also noted that Miss FESTAC will stand a chance to will the sum of FCFA 500.000.
The tickets for TOMBOLA will be sold at 1000FCFA and at various places in Limbe, Tiko, Douala and Yaounde.
The Delegate reassured that a sufficient budget has been set aside for FESTAC 2019.
Concerning the issue of security, he said Limbe is not fighting for anything against anybody. “FESTAC is the peaceful co-existence of the living together of the people of Limbe.” He said.
