Former Buea United, BU, Captain and Dynamic FC of Buea Left back, Benji Enow Anjah has penned a two-year deal with Equatorial Guinea’s top side, Celba FC.
The 17 year old had been on trails at the club for weeks before he was given the lucrative contract.
Benji started training with BU in 2006. “Despite not playing I was the one carrying training material, but I remained humble, disciplined, hardworking and punctual. With Buea United I learned a lot being among a group of players and coach I considered to be the best in the SW regional championship.” He stated.
The teenager started playing competitive football with BU in 2013. His stay at the club lasted for four years. Due to Benji’s humble, discipline, hardworking and punctual attitude, he earned the confidence of the coaches and management of the club and was named team captain. He was voted best player of the team by his team mates.
When Benji made the decision to pack his bags out of Buea United, a club he had spent a greater part of his career playing for, MTN Elite 2 side National Polytechnic of Bamenda, came knocking, but the newly appointed coach of Dynamic, Edwin Teteh convinced him with some promises to assist him if he agreed to play for the former SW representative in the MTN Elite 2.
For Dynamic, the left back featured 10 times for the club in the Southwest regional competition
Reacting to the Benji’s new deal, Coach Teteh said “I am so glad he is progressing and his elder brother is there to make sure he goes far. Signing for Equatorial Guinea’s Celba is a plus and humble beginning for the boy, God Bless him.”
On his dreams Benji confided in Atlantic Chronicles, saying “My ambition is to play top football in Europe and for my country. Thanks to my brother who has been of immense support in this football venture. I am happy signing for Celba FC, Equatorial Guinea; it is the beginning of a new journey.”
