Coton Sport of Garoua alias the Cottoners and Union des Mouvement Sportifs de Loum alias UMS Loum will be representing Cameroon in the CAF champion’s league.
The draws of the CAF championship league playoffs have been made with UMS Loum, one time champion of the cup of Cameroon. She qualified to be part of the playoff stage of the competition on the second spot of the table directly behind Coton Sport of Garoua.
UMS have two trophies; one in the cup of Cameroon and champions of the MTN elite one. Internationally, the team had one appearance in the champion’s league and confederation cup but failed to get through the first round of both competitions. The boys from Loum have been paired to clash with Lobi Stars of Nigeria alias the Ortom Boys with four trophies in the clubs shelf. Won one Nigerian super cup, FA cup and standing top of the Nigerian Premiere league twice. In the international scene, they have appeared twice in the CAF confederation competition but end in the second round, in the champion’s league and WAFU club championship but faced stiff opponents in the group stage where the competition came to an end for them.
Coton Sport representative number two for Cameroon, 15 time champions, and one time runner up in both CAF competitions will exchange football lessons with Gamtel of Gambia. The club has won the Gambian league twice and the cup four times, but has never gone pass the group stage of CAF competitions.
Both sides emerged top of their various leagues and have been paired in the playoff of the CAF champion’s league. Football lovers and pundits say the club has been so dormant after their triumph in 2008, so they hope the club officials of the Garoua based side will correct the errors of the past 10 years so as to make Cameroon proud once again.
